What is a platform truck body?

Defines platform truck bodies and explains how their open decks support flexible loading of oversized, palletized, and irregularly shaped cargo.

Stake & Platform Bodies Updated

A platform truck body features a flat cargo deck without permanently enclosed sides or a roof, making it well-suited for transporting oversized, irregularly shaped, or palletized loads that cannot easily fit inside an enclosed van body. Because cargo can be loaded from the rear, sides, or above, platform bodies offer exceptional flexibility for businesses that rely on forklifts, cranes, or other material handling equipment.

Platform bodies are commonly used in construction, agriculture, equipment rental, utilities, landscaping, and industrial distribution. Typical cargo includes lumber, pipe, steel, machinery, building materials, pallets, and other products that benefit from unrestricted loading access.

Many platform bodies can also be equipped with removable stake sides, toolboxes, tie-down systems, ladder racks, or cranes to support specialized applications.

The ideal platform body depends on cargo dimensions, payload requirements, loading equipment, and how frequently loads vary from one job to the next.
